Housing & Scenery

What you will notice is that I-95 splits the Byram neighborhood in half. There is the shore side, often referred to as Byram Shore, which tends to have larger lots and some spectacular waterfront views, and then there is the more densely populated part of Byram north of I95, which hosts a small village area with some excellent eateries. If you’re thinking about visiting Byram for yourself, you may want to print out a copy of our Byram neighborhood map to make exploration a bit easier. 

Let's start in Byram Shore. As you drive down Byram Shore Road, and look to the east, towards the water, you would see magnificent views between the waterfront homes here. You will also notice a handful of large and deep lots that are nearly impossible to find in other parts of town, and rare in the Gold Coast as a whole. You should note that if you want access to the beautiful Hawthorne Beach, you’ll need to purchase a home that belongs to the Hawthorne Beach Association. We have identified it on the map.

One of my favorite things about this location is the views. It's always more interesting when you have something to look at and just offshore you have several islands. Depending on where you are standing, you should be able to see Shore Island, Shell Island, Island Beach, and the largest Great Captain Island off in the distance, some of which are accessible by ferry. Next, let's head over to the more densely populated part of Byram, which is north of I-95. You are going to find that homes in this part of the neighborhood have more deferred maintenance and some lack curb appeal when compared to Greenwich as a whole. That said, I should also point out that it’s one of the most affordable places to live in Greenwich, so if affordability is high on your list I would suggest looking here. 

Parks & Clubs

Since you won't be able to get a good view from Byram Shore Road, I would suggest heading over to Byram Park where the views are excellent. When you are at Byram Park, head to the high ground and look over the Byram Shore Boat Club’s Marina. This is one of my favorite views in town and is not to be missed. While you are here, you may want to explore the beach area, tennis courts, playground, baseball fields, and waterfront pool. 

If you’re a boater, the Byram Shore Boat Club I just mentioned is an excellent option for docking your vessel. The Marina offers accommodations for boats up to 36 feet.

Dining

This is also where you’ll find Byram’s village area. While it’s not as dense with amenities as Route 1, or Greenwich Ave, you’ll still find a wide variety of dining options including a steakhouse, sushi, Greek, Pizza, Italian, American, and the locally beloved Firehouse Deli. If you can’t find what you need here, you can hop the New York line to the Port Chester Village area, or drive a few minutes to the aforementioned Route 1 or Greenwich Ave where you’ll find grocery stores, banks, and even more top-rated restaurants. 

Schools

New Lebanon Elementary School and Western Middle School are also closeby to the Byram village. Activities & Commuting

Another nice bonus is the Byram Shubert Library. Greenwich doesn't disappoint with its libraries, and this one is no exception. Byram Shubert offers unique events for all ages including book clubs for adults, arts and crafts night for kids, as well as Yoga, Music, and Meditation programs, just to name a few.

If you regularly commute to New York City, you’ll be happy to know that you’ll be minutes away from not one, but two train stations. The main Greenwich station is only about 6 minutes away and will get you to Grand Central in about 44 minutes. If you don’t mind hopping the border to New York, the Port Chester Train Station is only about 5 minutes away, and can get you to Grand Central even faster.
