Today we are going to explore the quaint neighborhood of Glenville located in Greenwich, CT.  Sitting just about 10 minutes northwest of downtown Greenwich, Glenville is a great location for those seeking a classic suburban neighborhood. Glenville’s geography, including homes, parks, and businesses, offers its residents close proximity to the town’s many amenities like upscale shopping and restaurants. Commuters can easily access the Greenwich train station, I-95, and the Merritt Parkway.  Here, both single and multi-family homes can be found, some close to one another and situated on more modest plots of land; making Glenville a great starter neighborhood. Geographically, homes in central and southern Glenville that are closer to the Post Road, tend to be smaller in stature and sit on conservative plots of land. Maintaining New England charm, these homes celebrate the best of mid-century design and architecture (Weaver Road). 

Further north, land and homes expand. Private drives offer grander properties that meander through treeline roads, boasting new construction builds with sweeping lawns and inground pools. (Sherwood Farm Lane). 

For those looking for easy living and maintenance, Glenville is home to River Run Condominium at the Mill. Located right in the heart of Glenville, this beautiful complex sits right on the Byram River with units overlooking the river and waterfalls. Here, the Mill is now converted into luxury apartments, offices, and shops and even has two restaurants. This village setting is a great location for those who enjoy being outdoors and strolling to some of Greenwich’s fine shops and restaurants. 

Shopping & Commuting

Glenville is a great spot for those looking for reachable amenities including luxury boutiques, fine and casual dining, cafes, a museum, markets, and more. Within about 8 to 10 minutes, residents can access these fine shopping and dining destinations along both Greenwich Avenue and the Post Road’s popular shopping centers. 

Commuters can enjoy easy access to rails and roads. Those looking to take the Metro North line into Grand Central have two train station options: the main Greenwich station or just over the border is the Portchester, New York station. Both stations are about a 10-minute drive from much of Glenville.  I-95 borders Glenville to the south and is another option that is quick to get to. Albeit a little further north, the Merritt Parkway is another option if you live in Glenville. 

Clubs & Recreation

The Western Greenwich Civic Center, located in the heart of the Glenville section of Greenwich, is host to an array of recreational activities for the community. Here, thousands of children, teens, and adults enjoy a variety of services which include: child development services, health/wellness, community services, and positive youth development. In addition to the civic center, exercise enthusiasts can find fitness clubs and gyms that dot the Post Road.

Schools & Places To Stay

School assignments in Greenwich are based on specific addresses. If you live in the Glenville neighborhood, your elementary-age children will likely attend the Glenville School or the International School at Dundee, while middle schoolers will likely go to Western Middle School.
