So you are shopping in the beautiful town of New Canaan, but you want more options. Everyone has a unique set of criteria, and if you are like most of our clients, you will discover what's really important once you start shopping. Maybe the homes aren't big enough or in good enough condition, you want to be closer to town, or it’s just a better home for the money that you are after. Regardless of your criteria, I have options for you.

New Canaan CT - Low Inventory Tips:

My experience leads me to believe that you probably like New Canaan for its combination of having premium amenities, the small town charm and the overall value including relatively low taxes. 

If it’s the small town feel that you are after, try hopping over the line to Wilton. You will want to explore the area along Old Ridgefield Rd near the Wilton train station. The village area here is very charming, but not as robust as the one you will find in New Canaan. The trade off being that you will get more home for your money in Wilton. When shopping, keep in mind that the taxes are a bit higher relative to New Canaan.

If you love the peace and serenity of nature that New Canaan offers, but the small town feel isn't that important, Stamford may be a good fit. You will see a noticeable improvement in the home you get for the same money, along with a cool, hip, bustling city with an excellent train station. Keep in mind that taxes are higher in Stamford too.
