So what if you aren't finding the home you are looking for in Westport? Everyone has a unique set of criteria, and after a little shopping our clients tend to learn what’s really important. Maybe the homes aren't big enough or in good enough condition, perhaps you want more waterfront options, you are looking for a short train commute to Manhattan, or it’s just a better home for the money that you are after. Regardless of your criteria, I have options for you.
Westport CT - Low Inventory Tips:
So let's say that it’s a better home that you are after. Perhaps you have been looking at homes online and you want a more updated home for the money. I am going to recommend that you hop over the line to either Fairfield or Weston. Weston is a great location if you love the peace and serenity of nature, however there isn't much commercial development which means you will likely go out of town for shopping and restaurants. If you want easier access to the train, shopping, nightlife and a ton of high end restaurants, try Fairfield. Also, if it’s a beach that you are after, Fairfield has one of the best beaches along Connecticut's Gold Coast.
For some of our clients, the drawbacks for Fairfield and Weston are the longer commute times to Grand Central Station. They add about ten to fifteen minutes to your train commute depending on the location that you choose. If this is the case for you, I would recommend considering New Canaan. The train commute time is similar to Westport, and New Canaan also has a charming village area with just about everything you could need or want.

The entire Connecticut gold coast has a host of options from the charming waterfront area in the Southport neighborhood of Fairfield, to the picturesque waterfront estates in Darien, and we can’t forget about the stunningly beautiful waterfront properties in Old Greenwich and Riverside. You have a seemingly unlimited number of options.

If it’s an ultra luxurious home that you are after, Greenwich is your best option because it offers a large number of high end estates and properties, but don't count out towns like Darien and New Canaan, historically, they have had some very intriguing opportunities as well.
