Homes in Compo Beach
This neighborhood is surrounded by three bodies of water: the Saugatuck River, Compo Cove and the Long Island Sound. You can choose from the Grand and luxurious Hampton-esque homes, with their inground pools, outdoor fireplaces, balconies overlooking the water, long, private driveways and well groomed gardens.
Or, you could choose a home situated on smaller plots near the beach. Despite the closeness to one another, these homes are charming, beach bungalows with attractive curb appeal. Many homes have pea-stone driveways with Belgium block borders giving off classic coastal vibes.
One community within this neighborhood that is quite noteworthy is Compo Mill Cove. Compo Mill Cove is a peaceful, pristine and beautiful hamlet of the Compo Beach Neighborhood. It sits along Compo Cove with just over a dozen homes, each having direct water-front access. These homes offer outdoor living spaces and enjoy coastal views and sunsets. One unique feature about this community is that access is limited by walking over a private bridge, but your landscaper and movers can request special permission to access your property when needed.
Parks & Beaches
Adjacent to this enclave is Old Mill Beach. This small and sandy beach offers beautiful views of Long Island Sound. It is open to all Westport residents with a valid car sticker.
To the east of compo beach, you will find Owenoke Park. Many homes in this section have direct waterfront access, or partial water views. You will also notice that some homes have private beaches, and a few have private docks.
Compo Beach, once a 20th century beach resort, is now Westport’s signature town beach. In fact, this historic district derives its name from this sandy shoreline. Walkable from many homes, the beach complex is a 29-acre park that includes an extensive sandy beach with a pavilion, playground, bathrooms, showers, basketball courts and playing fields. In all seasons, you can find local residents walking or biking along the paved boardwalk. There is a restaurant located at the pavilion that is open in the warmer months. Here, you can grab an easy summer lunch or dinner. In addition, Ned Dimes Marina offers in-water slips as well as drystalls for trailered boats and small sailboats.
The public Longshore Club Park is located in the Compo Beach neighborhood. Known by the locals as “Longshore”, this municipal park is home to an 18-hole golf course. and offers residents a seasonal pass program. Most people who play the course tell me that it is both challenging and fun.
