Commuting
At the heart of Fairfield Center, is the main Fairfield train station. There are two other train stations in town, but most of the action is here. In case you are curious, you will make it home to this station from Grand Central in about 70 minutes.
Dining & Places To Stay
You may occasionally hear the area near the train station referred to as Restaurant Row, and for good reason. Fairfield Center is host to many top-rated restaurants, and you will find most of them right here.
The options are seemingly endless, but to name a few, you have Colony Grill or the Nauti Dolphin for pizza, Mecha Noodle bar for Asian, Tequila Revolution for Mexican, Sonia’s for some great Italian, Rawley's Drive-in for some out-this-world dogs, Fireside Deli for an excellent sandwich, Nordic fish for seafood, Catch a healthy habit for a great health food location, and on and on…there are more than two dozen highly rated restaurants in the area. If you are planning on exploring the area, you may want to eat here.
You may also want to download this map and the town-wide neighborhood map to make the process a bit easier. If you are looking for a place to stay while you are here, try the Del A Mar in Southport. Many of our clients have enjoyed the stay.
Activities
The great thing about Fairfield Center is, that it's not just about the restaurants. Turn it into a date night by heading over to the Fairfield Theater company for live music or a comedy show, the schedule is jam-packed with events. They even have a theater camp for kids in the summer.
The Fairfield University, one of two big universities in town, has a good old-fashioned book store here too. It feels akin to a Barnes and Noble but a little better because you know you are supporting a good cause when shopping here.
Nearby Amenities
If you are into fitness, and taking care of your body you have got to check out the Sportsplex. Which offers cycling, yoga, pilates, taeKwonDo, golf, hockey, indoor fields, and more, as well as some healthy eating options so you don't ruin the workout you just did.
In addition there are banks, a grocery store, pharmacies, a post office, liquor stores, a town green with a Gazebo that's a perfect place to eat lunch on a nice day, clothing stores, and more. You will find all of it along Rt1.
Even though most of our clients who choose to shop here do it because they want easy access to the train, the shopping and all the great restaurants, they also appreciate the proximity to the beaches, which are absolutely excellent in Fairfield.
While they aren't in the neighborhood, I thought you would appreciate a quick peek. If you want to learn more about the beach neighborhood, check out the video tour we did in this area.
Housing & Schools
One of the nice things about Fairfield Center is that there are a good number of single-family homes within walking distance to the main drag and the train. But, if you want a condo, you may find a few options as well, depending on the current inventory level.
The state limits me on what I can say about the schools, but I can compile that information for you. You will find the school data, maps, and tons of other useful information that will save you hours, maybe days of research in our Fairfield Buyers guide. You will find it at the link on the screen.
Library & Museum
If you have kids, they may also love the Fairfield library. We have some really great libraries in the Gold Coast and this one does not disappoint. One thing that is unique at the Fairfield library are all of the displays that the kids can play in, while looking for books. They are sure to make for a fun day for younger kids.
If that weren't enough, you have the CT Audubon and Birdcraft Museum with its trails and bird habitats, plus the Sacred Heart Community Theater, which hosts live concerts and performances.
