I have found that our clients who have chosen Mid-Country have a strong preference for a bit more privacy and land, but still want to have easy access to town amenities like grocery stores and the train. Today we are going to explore the neighborhood of Mid-Country to see if it's a fit for you.

Home Features in Mid-Country
What you are going to notice are that the lots run larger, and there tends to be more of a wooded buffer between the homes in Mid-Country. All of this land also means that the houses tend to run a bit bigger than the communities closer to the water, and the neighborhood has more of a rural feel.
Access to Town Amenities
At first, it may seem that Mid-Country is far from many of the town amenities along the coast. However, the roads in Mid-Country have few stop signs and lights, which makes travel along the major roads like Round Hill, North, Lake, and Stanwich quick and efficient compared to the southern part of town.
Depending on where you choose to live in the neighborhood, you aren't more than about 10 minutes from a train station.
Most of the grocery stores are a quick drive too. You have several to choose from along Rt 1, including Whole Foods, Stop and Shop, Acme, and one of my favorites, Balducci's market.
You will also find many of Greenwich's top-rated restaurants along Route 1. They are too numerous to list here, but you can be sure there are plenty of highly rated restaurants to choose from.
If it's Greenwich Ave and all of its high-end shopping that you are after, I’m guessing that you will be happy to know that Mid-Country is not more than about 10 min away. If you want to know more about Greenwich Ave shopping, you may want to check out this video.
There are also seemingly endless shopping opportunities along Rt 1, as well as gyms, banks, etcetera, but don't expect the big box stores. You will have to go to Stamford, or possibly Port Chester for those.
Schools
If you are concerned about the schools, and have watched a few of our videos, you know the state limits what I can say about them. The good news is that I can compile the information for you so that you can make a great decision. I have done that in our Greenwich buyer's guide.
Recreational Opportunities
If it's recreation that you are after, Greenwich has many excellent parks, however, most are outside of the neighborhood. Golf on the other hand is plentiful in Greenwich with ten courses in town. Three of them are right here in Mid-Country.
You have a choice of Burning Tree (which is a par 72, with a slope of 135 from the black tee), Greenwich Country Club (which is par 71 with a slope of 133 from the black tee) or Round Hill (which is a par 71 with a slope of 142 from the black tee).
All three courses do require a sponsor for membership.
