Living in Riverside CT is amazing.. but it's not all roses here. Today we are going to talk about some of the good things, and some of the not so good things, for people who are considering moving here. Let's go.

Hi, my name is Charlie Vinci. I am a Greenwich CT Realtor, and my realty team and I specialize in helping buyers understand what living in Greenwich CT entails and how to relocate to the area.

Let me show you why you might want to move here, AND a few reasons why you might not.

Table of Contents:

Introduction:

Today we are going to cover the pros and the cons of Riverside CT. I will do my best to convey to you not my personal opinion but a culmination of what our clients have said to us and the feedback that we've received over the years. Some of the things that were good and the things they saw as potential drawbacks, so you can decide if Riverside is a good fit for you.

Welcome, if you're new to the site my name is Charlie Vinci, I'm a local realtor and if you haven't already, you may want to check out our Greenwich Buyer’s Guide. It is the definitive resource for anyone considering moving to Greenwich CT. Let's get right into it.

Active Lifestyle:

Over the years I've found that most of my clients like a neighborhood that's conducive to staying fit, and Riverside is a pretty great option for that. The roads are relatively quiet which makes it excellent for walking or running. If you like to ride your bike, you can ride to Binney Park, the Old Greenwich Village, and even Greenwich Point Park, which is in Old Greenwich. One drawback might be that Greenwich Point Park is just a little too far away to walk to, although it's not too far away for a short bike ride.

Easy Access to Old Greenwich Village:

I'm guessing that you already know about the Old Greenwich Village, with its grocery store, pharmacy, really great restaurants, and just about everything you need on a daily basis. The good news is that you could walk to the Old Greenwich Village from the northeastern part of the Riverside Neighborhood. Even from farthest point in the Riverside Neighborhood you’re only about a 5 or 6 minute car ride to the Old Greenwich Village. If you're curious about Old Greenwich and you want to find out more there's a ton of information on it in our buyer's guide.

Smaller Lot Sizes:

If you want a property on a large lot, one with a wooded buffer and privacy from your neighbors, Riverside’s options may be somewhat limited. While yes, it is still possible to find in Riverside, you will have better luck searching in other neighborhoods.

Easy Access to NYC By Train:

Another thing that our clients appreciate about the Riverside Neighborhood is the fact that there's a train station right there in town, and no matter where you are you're not more than a few minutes away from that train station. If you'd like to walk to the Riverside train station, we've created a walkable area map and you can go ahead and do a one-click search to find all of the homes that are walkable to the Riverside train station that's in our buyer's guide.

Low Property Taxes:

I'm guessing that you're Savvy like most of our clients and you don't want to pay any more tax than you have to. One of the great things about Greenwich is that the taxes are lower than in either Westchester or Stanford. I've done a video covering Greenwich versus Westchester taxes so if you want to know more you can find that video in our buyer’s guide. It's safe to say that you're going to save a boatload of cash on your property taxes compared to Westchester or Stanford. I'm guessing that you probably want to spend that money say on College tuition or maybe a trip to the Maldives.

Great Public Schools (According to greatschools.org):

Another thing we hear a lot from our clients is that they want their children to go to the best public schools. We have a school district map and one click search feature where you can search any public school district to find out all the homes available in that particular School District, you can find that information in our buyer's guide.

The good news is that in Riverside, most homes are going to go to Riverside Elementary, Dundee Elementary, or North Mianus Elementary, as well as Eastern Middle School. All of which are highly rated by greatschools.org you should always double check which Public Schools a home is assigned to you can do that with a lookup feature that's available in our buyer's guide.

Affordability:

While Riverside is pricier than many of the neighborhoods in Greenwich, it's not the most expensive. The good news is that you'll find more affordable homes north of I-95, also if you're looking for a condo you're going to find those options north of I-95 as well.

Waterfront Lifestyle:

If you're a boater, or want to be, wouldn't it be really nice to have your boat right there inside your neighborhood just a few minutes from your house? Well the good news is you have Riverside Yacht Club right there in your neighborhood. This will make it easy to just hop on that boat and cruise out on a Sunday afternoon. If you like the idea of a waterfront Community that's gated with security Riverside has a great option for you. The Harbor Point Association is a wonderful option with a small Waterfront Park and a marina. When you go to our buyer's guide you'll find the Riverside map, that map will show you exactly where to look.

Wrap-Up:

If you don't already have an agent call me, I'd be happy to help you with your search. While you're at it, grab the Greenwich buyers guide, it's the fastest and easy way to research Greenwich.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Best,
