Table of Contents:

Riverside Tour Overview:

This is a different kind of tour. We will take a look at the train stations and the housing communities. We'll talk about home values in each neighborhood. We will explore the schools, shopping and the breathtaking waterfront. I’ll even throw in a few easter eggs along the way.

If you are new to the website, blog or YouTube channel, my name is Charlie Vinci and I am a Greenwich CT realtor that helps people move here. If you are thinking about buying a home in lower Fairfield County  feel free to sign up on our website or subscribe to our Youtube Channel as we are constantly creating new content for you!

In order to follow along, it will be helpful to have our Riverside Neighborhood Map. To get the map click here,  make sure to right click to save on your Mac/PC, or tap the image on your phone to save it.

We will start with a central hub of commuting in Greenwich.. Are you ready, let's go!

North of Peninsula, South of RR Tracks:

If you were traveling home from Manhattan, you would get off here at the Riverside Train Station. The trip will take you about fifty-two minutes. By the way you can find more information on the railroad stations in our Greenwich Buyers guide or by visiting our Riverside Train Station page.

If you lived in one of the nearby communities, there is a good chance you would walk or possibly ride your bike home. South of the railroad tracks you will find the lots to be smaller with an eclectic mix of well kept homes. Prices typically range between $1.3MM and $4.6MM, with the finest examples selling for north of $5MM. Direct waterfront typically sells for north of $3MM.

Although there isn’t much near the Riverside train station, the Old Greenwich village is just minutes away. Over in OG, as it’s often called by the locals, you will find just about everything you need including top rated restaurants, a grocery store, banks and more. Check out our Old Greenwich Neighborhood tour for the full details. But first, let's explore the rest of the Riverside Neighborhood.

At the end of Club road, you will find the Riverside Yacht Club. If you are a sailor, and you plan to live in the area, there is a good chance you keep your boat here.  It's a beautiful club with a small beach and waterfront amenities. Sponsorship is required.

Southern Tip of Peninsula:

Next, we are going to head over to the southern part of the peninsula.

In this area you will find many roads which end in water views. The lots tend to be larger in this part of the neighborhood, and the homes are more luxurious. You may want to look here if you love the neighborhood of Old Greenwich, but prefer a bit more land.

On the southernmost tip of the peninsula you will find the private and gated community of Harbor Point. As I’m sure you can imagine, the water views from this community are absolutely stunning. The community has private access to Elias Point, which includes a beach, picnic area and a small boat launch.

If you love the idea of living in Harbor Point, but are having a hard time finding a home for sale there, you may also want to check out the Community of Willowmere or any of the dead end roads that lead to the water, many of which you will find to be private.

Homes in the southern part of the Riverside peninsula typically range between $2.75MM and $6.5MM, With the finest examples fetching north of $15MM. Direct waterfront typically starts at about $7MM.

North of the RR Tracks, South of I-95:

Next, let's head to the area north of the Riverside Railroad station. This area also has good access to the Old Greenwich Village.

This is also where you will find Riverside Elementary School, and Eastern Middle School. If you would like to know more about schools and the associated neighborhoods, take a look at our comprehensive buyers guide here.

Homes in this area of Riverside typically range between $975k and $3.1MM, with the finest examples selling for north of $5MM.

North of I-95:

Next, let’s head to the area north of I-95. This area of Riverside is also called North Mianus and is designated on our map with a single dollar sign.

In addition to the amenities that you will find in the Old Greenwich Village, you will find many things that you will need on a daily basis along Rt 1. You’ll have a Balducci’s Food Lover's Market, pharmacies, Staples Office Supplies, top rated restaurants and more.

This is the North Mianus Elementary School. You can search for homes in any school district by going to my site and scrolling down to the section on schools.

Living in some parts of this neighborhood gives you access to the international School of Dundee which is a magnet school.

Dundee Woods is a beautiful seventy-four acre park and it's a great place to go for a stroll or walk your dog. In the winter, when the pond freezes over here, the sunsets are absolutely beautiful over the ice.

Prices typically range between $385k and $2.15MM, and in the Northern part of the neighborhood you may find some homes selling for north of $3MM.
