Saugatuck Island

First, let's check out Westport's most exclusive beach community, Saugatuck Island. Saugatuck Island is a private community of about 105 homes. The community has a boat ramp and three beaches. Two of the beaches are on the southern shore, available to all island residents. The largest beach on the eastern shore is absolutely stunning and only available to a few of the homes nearby. A home with access to this beach rarely comes on the market, making it the most exclusive beach community in town. Even if you don't find a home with access to the large beach, Saugatuck Island is still a treasure. It's also an ideal spot to launch a kayak to Kokkini Island just offshore. Kokkini is a public island with an expansive crescent-shaped beach with a wildlife preserve.

Burying Hill Beach

If you're looking for a small, quiet neighborhood beach, you're in luck. Burying Hill Beach in the Greens Farms neighborhood is the perfect fit. Parking is limited, which tends to keep the beach from getting overcrowded. And don't get discouraged by the rocky beach near the parking area; the east side of the beach is much better.

Sherwood Island Beach

 Just to the west of Burying Hill, you're going to find Sherwood Island Beach. This is a state beach and it's open to all state residents. It has a large pavilion with food and a covered terrace with tables and a picturesque ocean view. It gets crowded, and most locals do prefer the other beaches in town.

Cedar Point Yacht Club

While the beach itself isn't the best in town, I think you're going to like the club's culture. Their location is ideal for sailing and racing, and the grounds are absolutely beautiful.

Campo Beach

Across the harbor from the Cedar Point Yacht Club, you're going to find Campo Beach. It's a large, beautiful sandy beach available for all town residents. It has a playground, a pavilion, and food. If you choose to live in the Campo Beach neighborhood, this is likely to be your spot.
