Are you thinking about moving to Connecticut but wondering if it’s right for you? I’m going to give you a local’s perspective on the cultures in different areas of the state so you can decide which area is best for you!
Welcome, if you're new to the site my name is Charlie Vinci, i'm a local realtor and if you haven't already been here, you may want to check out the rest of our site. We have tons of resources on the area that will help you make a great buying decision. Let's get right into it.
Considering a Move?:
Connecticut isn’t a huge state.. If you're moving here, you’re probably moving to one of three areas: Fairfield County, the Hartford area, or the New Haven area.
If you’ve heard that the state is losing population, well… it is. But not from any of these three areas. In fact, Fairfield County is growing at a rapid rate.
Fairfield County as a whole is what you would probably think of when you think of a smaller city in America. It’s well positioned, has a great economy and you could reach roughly a third of our US population within eight hours by car. It’s a great location if you are going to commute as the local economy is great for jobs.
I think the real advantage to the Hartford area (if your personality isn’t a fit for the Fairfield county area) is that it’s more laid-back. Once you get out of the city area, the locale becomes a more rural. My wife and I love to vacation of this area because it has more of a slower pace and a small town charm that we really appreciate through.
New Haven‘s culture is a combination of both Fairfield County and the Hartford area. The city area of New Haven has much of the intensity of Fairfield County, whereas the outlying areas tend to be more similar to the Hartford area.
Some of my clients choose to move to this area because it allows them to retain a connection with New York, but capitalize on the lower housing cost of the New Haven area.
