If you are thinking about living in the Mid-Country neighborhood of Greenwich, it offers some compelling reasons. Today, I’ll cover the pros and cons so you can make the best decision for you and your family. Lets go.

Hi, if you are new to the channel my name is Charlie Vinci and I am a local realtor. My family has been in the area for 5 generations and my channel is about showing you everything that Connecticut's Gold Coast has to offer. You can get the supplemental items that accompany this video by right here

Table of Contents

Proximity to Greenwich Amenities

What I have noticed over the years is that buyers are often attracted to Mid-Country after searching for a bit.

They usually want good access to the train, shopping, and restaurants. Riverside and Old Greenwich may be a great option for you, but the cost per square foot is higher in these locations compared to Mid-Country. The majority of Mid-Country still provides easy access to the town amenities that you are seeking.

While some parts of the neighborhood may look far on the map, the roads that run north to south (Round Hill, Lake, North Street and Stanwich as an example) are fast moving, with few traffic lights and stop signs, allowing you to get to town quickly. Anywhere in the neighborhood, you're not more than about 2-10 minutes from Greenwich Ave and other shopping.

Peace & Privacy

Another thing that we have found is that many of our clients like that you typically get more privacy and land in Mid-Country compared to the surrounding neighborhoods, perhaps with the exception of Back Country. If you want to get a better idea of what the Mid-Country neighborhood looks like, check out the Mid-Country neighborhood tour.

If you love the outdoors, another thing you may like about Mid-Country is the easy access to great hiking locations and many excellent golf courses and clubs.

One thing you may want to be aware of is that with more land, typically comes the need for a septic system, because it's not usually financially feasible to run the town sewer to areas with low housing density.

A septic system is a natural way of handling waste, and despite the fear that the system may leak sewage, this is highly unlikely when the system is inspected and maintained properly. If you want to know more about septic systems, check out this video.

Train & Schools

If you are driving to the train from Mid-Country, I would recommend using the main train station which is at the southern end of Greenwich Ave. I would also encourage you to watch our Greenwich Train video, because there are a few things to know about parking at the stations.

You probably know by now that I can't say much about the schools, but I can compile the information so you can make a good decision. I have done that in our Greenwich Buyers guide. You can find it at the link on the screen.
